Advantages of Summer Music Study

Opportunity to vary the usual musical curriculum

Summer studies can emphasize special interests such as music appreciation, theory, harmony, improvising, composing or voice training.

In summer, the student can take a break from regular method books. A change of summer repertoire may include jazz, ragtime, boogie, hymns, patriotic music, folk music, pop tunes and duet playing. Consult your teacher to discuss your preference.

Accelerated Proficiency

Summer schedule permits more time flexibility for practice. The student gains more proficiency in a shorter time.

Provides Continuity of Learning Needed for Maintaining:

Muscle control, ear, eye and finger coordination
Knowledge of music terminology, note reading and rhythmic skills
Motivation, interest and personal satisfaction

By continuing study in the summer, the student will further develop these skills and will not have to spend 3 to 4 weeks of review work in the fall.
